Where's my OBD2 port?
Every car sold in the US since 1996 has one, within reach of the driver's seat. Tap a marker to see the most common spots.
Most common
Under the dash, left of the steering column
Look up under the dashboard, just above the pedals and to the left of the steering column. The port often faces downwards, so crouch by the open door and look up.
Common
Knee panel, right of the column
On many cars it sits in the lower dash panel just to the right of the steering column, around knee height. Some models hide it behind a small flap you can pop open by hand.
Some models
Behind a cover near the fuse panel
Check the side of the dashboard by the driver's door. The port may be behind a removable cover, sometimes labelled OBD or diagnostic.
Less common
In the center console
A few makes place it in the center console, for example under the radio, near the gear lever or inside a storage cubby.
What you're looking for: a 16-pin socket shaped like a rounded trapezoid, about 1.5 inches wide.
